Inevitability

Didn't Hillary Clinton begin her primary campaign as the 'inevitable' nominee? How did that work out for her?

And now Jerome and others on MyDD make the argument that Hillary should be the nominee, because she would 'inevitably' win the general...

Remember this?

And this?

Am I missing something here? Maybe we don't know what the hell is going to happen in the general. Maybe we should realize that our predictions are wrong a lot of time.

Hindsight is 20/20, but your foresight lacks. Why haven't you learned your lesson in the past 6 months?

Sorry, you're candidate is no longer relevant and the game has shifted to Obama v. McSame.
Thank you playing.

You DO realize that the diarist's candidate and your own are the same, right?

McSame is doooooomed. He's a sacrificial lamb. (none / 0)

The GOP thinks they can win by losing. They'll try to pin all of the crap on us. But this ain't the 90's. There is  more parity in information sharing now and the facts - in video many times - will stymie the GOP attempts to lie.

I personally think Obama's gonna kick McSame's ass. But I won't throw the word 'inevitable' around like some people.

Certainly anything can happen. It always takes hard work for Dems to win against the GOP and the corporate media. McSame's base as he calls them.

please link where she claimed that (2.00 / 1)

since she does not say that in the clip you linked. I know how much easier it is to post about what you want her to have said, but that is a lie.

Re: WTF? (none / 0)

I never said she did say 'inevitable'. It sure looks like she thought she was. But that's not my point anyway. The traditional media called it that way, and threw around that word hundreds of times.

And I never said she called it that. Everyone else did.

She's not saying she's inevitable for the general either. But many on MyDD are.

"I think everybody should just take a deep breath and say 'let's just go to the finish line,' which will be probably be midnight West Coast time on Feb. 5," she said.

Is she concerned Obama will get a major boost from Winfrey's enthusiastic fan base?

"No," Clinton said. "At the end of the day, it's among us as candidates. People will make their judgments. I'm proud to have my husband support me. It's wonderful to have someone with his knowledge and experience and incredible ability vouch for me campaign for me."

"If it's not you, how disappointed will you be?" Couric asked.

"Well, it will be me," she said.

honestly (none / 0)

I do not care. It is silly that you are even arguing this line.

The one thing that really gets me is this.

WHY do some of you O supporters STILL spend so much time trying to rip and bash Hillary Clinton if you think/know that Obama has this wrapped up?

It boggles my mind.

Nothing's Inevitable (2.00 / 1)

The only people who thought Hillary's candidacy was "inevitable" last fall were some pundits and relative newcomers to political campaigns. CEO's of major corporations who believe that their command of a market is permanent and inevitable usually end up being shown the door. Military commanders who believe their military victories are "inevitable" are very often quite surprised when that turns out not to be the case.
Instead of berating the Clinton campaign for having to change strategy and tactics, we should be acknowledging that - in fact - the ability to shift and adjust to change and to address the opponents offensives while not losing sight of her ultimate goal are exactly the capabilities we need in our next President. The measure of the quality of a campaign lies in whether the desired outcome is achieved. We still have four primaries and the meeting of Rules and ByLaws Committee - nothing is "inevitable" yet.

Re: Inevitability (none / 0)

Look, they all made that case that Hillary was inevitable--and then the Junior Senator from Illinois crashed the party.

The candidate capable of taking down Hillary Clinton is more than capable of doing the same to John McCain.
